I’m an emergency medicine doctor and life-long athlete, and even I couldn’t get any of it to work.

I wasn’t looking for the latest fad or to get beach ready in 3 weeks. I just wanted to get back to a healthy weight, feel healthier, and get my energy back!


None of it was working:

Name brand diet programs, keto, low-carb, calorie counting, Whole30, “eating healthy” and moving more…

I remember looking at my life and thinking that I was losing who I was.

My clothes didn’t fit anymore. I felt unhealthy. I was getting sedentary. And I couldn’t keep up with my kiddoes.

Who is this person? It’s not me. I didn’t recognize that person staring back at me with tired eyes.

This shouldn’t be this hard, should it?

I thought: “It must be my fault…”

I thought I was doing everything I was supposed to do… but it wasn’t working.

And I kept struggling with cravings and temptations, how to include my family in each challenging diet, how to travel and eat out and stick to the plan, and more daily frustrations.

And I was constantly hungry, and craving everything I was supposed to cut out, and feeling my energy crash and drag.

And the food was just plain boring.

I kept thinking it was my own failure of willpower, or fortitude, or just not doing something right and I had no idea what.


Then one day I started to think:
“I guess this is just the new me.”

I watched with anguish as whatever progress I gained eroded away pound by pound.

I was slipping further and further BACKWARD.

I was giving up. Just thinking I had to learn to accept this creeping weight. It was just age or pregnancy or I don’t know what. Maybe my metabolism was shot. Maybe I just didn’t hit the genetic lottery.

I know I’m not the only one. I’ve heard from so many like you…

I almost gave up…..
and then I just got PISSED.

If it was just me, I may have suffered through and watched my health and body continue to degrade…

…but when my friend came to me breaking down about her own struggle with her weight and constantly feeling drained and feeling like there were no options left… well..

It broke my heart.

Then it pissed me off.

And I vowed to crack this riddle despite the mass of confusing and conflicting dieting and health advice coming at us from every direction.

So using my biochemistry and medical background, I started researching… and researching… and experimenting on myself…. and researching more…

I threw out everything I was told.
I started over with the latest studies and research. I ignored all the old rules and old myths that keep being parroted by everyone, even our own doctors.

Honestly I probably went a little crazy on this little project of mine…

But 300 hours of research later:

I was two sizes smaller, stronger than ever, and confident again.

I dug through cognitive behavioral therapy, nutrition science, mindset work, life coaching…. everything I could find, going right to the source and vetting each study one by one to get at what really mattered, and what was misdirecting fluff and flawed conclusions.

In the past, I spent so much time stressing over finding the right meal plan, the right exercise routine, the right food, the right “guru”…

But then…


I realized that it is about food, of course…. but something else extremely important I was missing before… that everyone was missing:

Diets don’t work.

I was going about the whole thing from the wrong perspective:

I didn’t need another diet, or the “right” food or supplement…

… I needed a lifestyle shift that I could sustain.

And to stop stressing out my body, hormones, emotions, and mind with these artificial dieting cheats and hacks.

Cheats and hacks that had only temporary results and relied way too much on willpower to survive.

That’s not us.

We want a naturally thin and healthy approach that enriches and improves our lives. Right?

We aren’t looking to just get “beach ready in 3 weeks”… we’re looking to be fit, strong, and healthy so we can be showing up in our lives for many years to come full of energy and vitality.

Too much to ask? I don’t think so.

What I Didn’t Expect When I Started Was:

I learned how to stop fighting my brain, emotions, cravings, and body… and instead rewire them to work for me instead of against me.

Today, at 40 years old, I’m stronger and faster and weigh less than I did playing college soccer.

I dropped two sizes.

Do you prescribe medicine?

No. While some of the coaches are physicians, they are not prescribing medicines or practicing medicine. They are functioning as coaches only.

What does a health coach do?

A health coach can be defined as helping patients gain the knowledge, skills, tools, and confidence to become active participants so that they can reach their self-identified health goals.

Health and wellness coaches help clients make positive and lasting changes to their health. The coach guides clients through the process of creating a vision for their health and well-being, developing a healthy mindset and healthy habits, and encouraging them every step of the way until they accomplish their goals.

Health coaches may provide advice and support for the choices and decisions you make but will not be giving you specific instructions beyond their scope.

How much time is this going to take me? I’m so busy I don’t know if I can do it.

The podcasts are about 10-20 minutes each, and you can listen to them on your phone, on the go, while you are doing the dishes, driving to work or chasing after kids.

The documents that support the podcasts can be read on your phone or accessed on your website client portal.

Your video coaching visits are 30 minutes per week. You should expect to spend about one hour per week planning and organizing around time management, food preparation, and meal planning.

What diet are you going to put me on?

We aren’t going on a diet! Diets don’t work, we all know that, but no one wants to admit it.

What we are going to do is eat real whole food, not products, that tastes good, at times that research supports the improvement of your metabolic digestion and weight loss.

Do you make meal plans for me?

Lifestyle medicine and psychology research clearly demonstrates that sustainable behavioral change only happens with active engagement, not by passive consumption.

If we just told you what to eat and when, of course you would lose weight, but what happens when the program is over? Same thing that happened every time you’ve tried to lose weight, it would come right back.

So we are taking the reality of your life and figuring out together how to make meaningful change even when it is hard.

That means how to plan, how to shop, what to buy, where to buy it, when to cook it, how to store it, what you don’t like, how to incorporate kids/spouse/work, how to talk yourself through the hard times, how to create patterns of choices, how to eat at restaurants, how to travel, how to bounce back after less than ideal choices, what to do when you forget, how to choose the best of bad options, etc etc etc.

What else would I need to buy?

We strongly recommend a fitbit Aria2 wireless scale, as this will integrate directly into your client chart in our virtual clinic. We also would recommend a fitbit activity tracker, if you are apt to wear it, as it will also integrate.

There will be a food journal app, the free version is just fine, but the premium one is better, but the cost is nominal. Otherwise, you will only be purchasing your own food.
